Addons Developers: Help Needed
April 17, 2008 by rainwaterIn order to get Addons up and running we are having to use a backup from 6 months ago. Before we can make the site live we need for all Addons authors to update their plugins at the new temporary url. If you have trouble logging into the site, please let us know (there is also a password recovery system). Also, if you have any issue updating and/or adding a new file please let us know so we can work out any of the kinks.
You may notice some quirks (like the front page doesn’t update). These are just display issues that we will resolve soon. At the point we feel like the site is ready, we will move the domain back to its original url.
For users of the Addons site, please be aware that the site is incomplete and may not always be functional. I would advise everyone to hold off from using the site until we move it back to its normal home.
Here is the temporary url:

Great!
At least it is possible to find addons again, though the search functionality is down, and versions are old …
I’ve been pestering someone for months to enable otr, and he only could tell me he was unable to find it … now its back!
Thanks,

Nice to hear this.
By Cris on April 18th, 2008 at 2:19 am #Thanks for everyone’s hard work.
IMO it would be better to start all over from the begining. I mean - just run the site, and let authors add their plugins, without using the backup. There were a lot of scraps on add-on site, and by this you would clean that mess up.
By zx on April 18th, 2008 at 5:53 am #When are you going to tell us what exactly happened to the previous addons server?
By Mxx on April 18th, 2008 at 6:16 am #“Lack of ISP Bandwidth” story doesn’t seem to connect to the fact that you guys had to roll back to backups?
Keeping people in the dark makes them think there’s something shady going on, especially with an opensource project which supposed to be totally transparent.
Happy to hear this.
We all hope it live early.
Thanks for your hard work.

By tjado on April 19th, 2008 at 9:19 pm #I agree with Mxx, tell us what really happened to the previous server, that story is just ridiculous. Do you really think people believe this over months?
By w4nt2kn0w on April 20th, 2008 at 12:02 am #good!
By yoness on April 20th, 2008 at 12:57 am #@w4nt2kn0w, Mxx :
What about asking in a polite way that actually deserves an answer?
Or is it to hard just to be grateful and to sh*t up?
While talking about open source, you only see what you think devs have to do, you never thought about how users *should* behave
By NightRider on April 21st, 2008 at 9:00 am #next time before you open your mouth, why don’t you see what i contributed to this project and then tell me how to ask questions or what do.
my question was perfectly polite w/o any hint of rudeness.

By w4nt2kn0w on April 26th, 2008 at 1:59 am #What about just answering? The question is simple enough. I just don’t like people (no matter who they [think they] are) taking others for fools, like the devs obviously do.
@w4nt2kn0w,Mxx:
Well, I would suppose that someone did some stupid mistakes, not really wanting people to know about. As for me, as long as there are open source codes, I do not care.
The only thing I would worry about is that this long downtime could drag some potential users away, because they could build their own Miranda really hardly without the add-ons page.
